Just some information that we wanted to pass along to everyone. Some things have changed a little bit from last year so please read.
Practice—The fee for practice has remained $5. When you pay for practice you will be given a wrist band to wear for that night–you MUST have it on in order to ride the track. We will also still be doing bike inspection.
Race Night—Registration has been crazy the past few weeks as we are trying to get a good system going that allows the person keying in the riders to be able to concentrate since the new computer program takes some getting used to. Please remember to bring your USABMX license with you for every race. We are using the yellow USABMX race registration forms. If you have already filled one out completely then simply give the person outside of registration your name and they will give you your slip to take to the registration window to register and pay. If you have not filled one out then you will be asked to do so–please fill it out completely as we need all of this information to enter you into the race program. We also use these forms to pick our rider of the week.
Motos—You have been given a sheet that explains how to read the moto sheets. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Once the motos are posted be sure to check that you are on the moto sheets and MAKE NOTE OF YOUR MOTO NUMBER AND GATES. It is NOT the stagers responsibility to tell you what moto and gate you should be in. They are more than willing to help you unless it gets to be a regular occurrence. Also, once the race starts–pay attention to what moto is on the track and be sure to be in staging with your moto when it is time for you to race. Again, we do not mind holding the gate every once in a while but will not do it if it gets to be a regular occurrence. All of this will help the race to run smoothly.
Trophies—Novice (beginner) riders are the only riders that may receive a trophy at the end of the race. Intermediate, Expert and Cruiser riders will have the choice of Track Bucks or Saver Stamps. Track Bucks may be used at our concession stand and also at West Newton Bike shop. Saver Stamps may be used at Imperial Bike Shop, Top Gear Bicycle Shop or the vendors at USXABMX national races.
Parking on race night—Please, Please, Please—If you are going to be leaving before the last moto has crossed the finish line, please park in the lower lot down past the registration building. Last year and also a few time this year, we have had some close calls when riders are coming off of the track and there are cars coming down from the upper lot area. Luckily we have not had any of the riders and cars collide. We would like to keep it that way. So for the safety of our riders–please keep this in mind when you are deciding where to park on race nights. Of course we also ask that you keep your eyes out on practice nights as well.
Volunteers—We always need volunteers to help with the race each week. You do not need special training for this–we will be happy to show you how it is done. The best seat in the house is on one of the corners so why not try being a corner marshall for a race. Scoring is not as hard as it may look and we do have fun.
Staging–well, that can be crazy but if we can get at least 3 people each week to help out that would be great. Don’t forget–if you volunteer 4 times you will get one of the South Park Staff T-shirts.
We are looking forward to a great year of racing and are glad you are here to be a part of it.
